Tourtellotte Memorial High School's Modern Music Ensemble recently visited Westview Health Care Center for a beautiful hour filled with melodic expression.
Kate Anderson, Music Directory at TMHS, accompanied the 11-piece troupe consisting of 9 seniors and 2 sophomores. The students arrived with various instruments including a cajón, a six-sided percussion box, as well as a djembe, a skin-covered goblet drum.
The group performed numerous musical pieces for the residents of Westview including Coldplay's "Sky Full of Stars" and Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass".
The entire ensemble wore custom t-shirts adorned with a TMHS music logo on the front and a quote on the backside which read: "When words fail. . .music speaks"; a simple, yet poetic, sentiment expressing the transendent nature and power of music.
"Music heals," stated David T. Panteleakos, Administrator. "The energy and talent that these students have shared with us goes far beyond entertainment. We are extremely grateful to have the Modern Music Ensemble return to Westview for another outstanding performance."
