Westview Health Care Center’s was visited by Rendever Health, a virtual reality experience company on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 to demonstrate their breathtaking services and to deliver a package of VR headsets as an addition to the facility’s Recreational Department offerings.
Reed Hayes, Co-Founder and COO of the Cambridge, Massachusetts based company, once again joined the residents and patients of Westview in exploring and experiencing a host of virtual landscapes via specialized headsets and the company’s proprietary software that allows the group to simultaneously experience the various landscapes. Residents witnessed a desert in Africa, a mansion tour of a European castle, as well as the surreal journey of exploring a live-motion experience of Vincent van Gogh’s famous painting, “The Starry Night.”
Rendever sets itself apart from other virtual reality viewing experiences by utilizing Google Street View, 360° videos and panoramic still images found on the internet and seamlessly stitching them together using the company’s own software to deliver an chance to visit millions of locations around the world and beyond.
Inspired by the desire to provide a functional portal to the internet for older adults, Rendever’s unique approach to delivering internet-based resources to an aging population is designed to be user-friendly and devoid of user-based complications.
“Older folks tend to find newer technology difficult to navigate, often times leaving them with feelings of frustration,” commented Hayes. “Rendever offers an immersive internet-based experience without complication, because the majority of controls are managed by a separate user via a tablet, allowing them to explore these virtual landscapes at their leisure.”

Panteleakos, Administrator. “The reactions and feedback from the virtual reality experience has resonated deeply with our patients and residents and we’re enthusiastic about Rendever’s approach to immersive eldercare applications and technology.”
Westview Health Care Center is a 103-bed skilled nursing inpatient facility, which includes a distinct and self-contained 28-bed subacute short-term rehabilitation unit and an Outpatient Rehabilitation and Aquatic Center, both dedicated to providing quality health care services. Along with garnering a perfect five star overall rating found on Medicare.gov Westview is proud to have received such accolades as US News and World Report America’s Best, Consumer Reports Top 10 Connecticut Nursing Facility rating and Health Grades 5-Star Top Ranking.
