Press Release
Employee of the Month

Date
March 29, 2023

Tyler Walmsley was celebrated as Westview Health Care Center’s Employee of the Month this February. Tyler’s current title is Emergency Preparedness Officer at the Dayville, CT skilled nursing facility, where he has also worked in other positions in the Maintenance and Dietary Departments since November 2010. This is Tyler’s third time receiving this monthly distinction at Westview; having also been chosen among his peers in December 2012 and January 2018. He has always considered himself to be mechanically inclined. Tyler is a very hands-on person who enjoys repair work utilizing his broad range of trade skills. His role in Westview’s Maintenance Department includes anything from performing small tasks like rearranging furniture to executing major projects with electrical work, plumbing repairs, and restorative carpentry. Now with his specialty in emergency preparedness, he also plays a critical role maintaining systems and training staff for Westview’s fire alarm protocols. He is responsible for training staff in the proper use of fire extinguishers and other safety measures. Tyler is often seen around the facility touring the building with newly hired staff and managers to highlight the building’s features that keep Westview secure. He remarked: “One of the most satisfying parts of my position here is that I like knowing that our people are safe.” This creed of Tyler’s has been strengthened through his experiences in the East Thompson Fire Department and as a licensed EMT.

Tyler grew up in Thompson, CT and graduated from Tourtellotte Memorial High School. He presently lives in Dayville, CT, close to his mother Sandra and his father Joseph. Tyler appreciates the fact that his mother is also a member of the staff at Westview, and he is proud of her previous achievements as Westview Employee of the Month and as Westview Employee of the Year in 2012. His rescue dog Charlie is a big source of joy in his life. Tyler is knowledgeable and passionate about cars and motorcycles, and appreciates any opportunity he can find to journey to new locations. He has traveled to Vermont and New Hampshire in recent years to hike and fish in their beautiful mountain settings, and he looks forward to returning to Laconia, NH for their summer motorcycle rally. During the winter months Tyler enjoys playing video games; appreciating first-person action games with unique narratives. To stay physically active, he likes to exercise by lifting weight at least three times a week—sometimes even more frequently than that. As he considers his future aspirations, Tyler holds a keen interest in plumbing and could see himself starting a local business in that trade.

As he received this Employee of the Month designation for a third time, Tyler expressed profound gratitude for the impact his tenure at Westview has had on him. “Working at Westview for all these years has been a great experience. I have learned so much during this time. A lot of my knowledge with safety measures, state codes, and a range of different trade skills have been directly gained through my experiences here. It’s great to work in a setting like Westview where I can see my mother, and I really enjoy the way that all of us feel like family here. Thank you to my fellow coworkers for this recognition!”

Administrator of Westview Health Care Center David T. Panteleakos has high esteem for Tyler’s dedication and determination towards the facility’s efforts. “Tyler is a valued member of our team here at Westview, and I greatly appreciate his passion for continuously gaining new skills. I know that he finds great importance in the safety and security of our patients, residents, and staff, and that instills comfort and confidence in all of us at Westview. Congratulations to Tyler on his well-deserved accolade!”
