On Thursday, February 16, 2012, Westview Health Care Center shed light on prevention and wellness through an educational program for their employees called "Let's Get To The Heart of It" presented by Education and Communications Coordinator Linda J. Colangelo from The Northeast District Department of Health (NDDH).
Employees enjoyed an educational exhibit on heart health to increase awareness of heart disease, its risk factors and the warning signs of a heart attack and stroke.
"February is American Heart Health month and unfortunately, most of us know someone who has had heart disease or stroke so we added a touch of public health awareness for our employees and their families," stated Administrator David T. Panteleakos. "We are certainly impressed with the Northeast District Department of Health's resources and support."
"NDDH was delighted to partner with Westview to bring health and wellness information to such a large group of employees," commented Colangelo. "Preventing illness and promoting healthier lifestyles in the workplace helps employees to lead to happier, healthier, and more productive lives in general. That, in turn, benefits families and the community-at-large. We thank Westview for being a valued partner in the northeast Connecticut public health system."
