Westview Health Care Center proudly announces the opening of their newly expanded outpatient sports medicine facility to meet the growing demand for prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. The sports medicine department addresses the rehabilitation and prevention of sports injuries, concussion recognition and post operative care.
The expansion extends off of the established sports medicine facilities located on Westview’s Main Street USA and features state-of-the-art, cutting edge equipment such as a Complete Sports Simulator which concentrates on the rehabilitation of golf, football, baseball and soccer injuries in a virtual setting. In addition to a Nautilus Freedom Trainer multi use weight system, Westview has also added a Biodex Smart Balance System for balance, agility and concussion assessment, a TRX Suspension System to develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability; and much more.
"Westview has been providing outpatient therapeutic services to people of all ages and of all levels in a high tech and creative atmosphere for years," remarks David T. Panteleakos, Administrator of Westview Health Care Center. "We continuously strive for the latest, greatest and most innovative ways to service our community and provide them with everything they need to get back to feeling their best and enjoying the quality that life has to offer."
Westview’s outpatient department also recently added two athletic trainers to complement their already established dynamic team. These professional athletic trainers are contracted with local public and private high schools to provide services for games and practices during their athletic season for immediate treatment, concussion recognition and monitoring; and testing for their athletes in order to prevent and protect injuries that occur on the playing field.
“Our new, state-of-the-art training equipment and facilities, along with the expertise of our sports medicine therapists and athletic trainers creates a premier environment for sports-related injury management and performance improvement," stated Physical Therapist Alex Williams. “The environment that has been created is individualized, positive and conducive to the healing process.”
Offerings in the new space include sport-specific rehabilitation, concussion recognition and management, treatment and prevention, return to play decisions, strength training and conditioning; athletic training coverage of athletic practices and competitions, and injury education.
Westview Health Care Center is a 103-bed skilled nursing inpatient facility, which includes a distinct and self-contained 28-bed subacute short-term rehabilitation unit and an Outpatient Rehabilitation and Aquatic Center, both dedicated to providing quality health care services.
