Westview Health Care Center honored our nation’s armed forces and the Veterans residing at the facility with a military tribute held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. The ceremony commemorated brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and reservists who have served our country, both past and present, remembering their tremendous sacrifices and courage.
Organized by Westview Health Care Center's Recreation Department, the program included a Posting of Colors by the Members of the Albert J. Breault VFW Post 1523 of Putnam. The invocation was provided by Chaplain Jerry Salvas followed by readings and remembrances.
"Veterans Day is a national day of thoughtful recognition, stated Administrator David T. Panteleakos. “Our veterans deserve our deepest gratitude every day for their continued sacrifice, all in the name of the preservation of freedom and a better way of life. We are honored to be among such courageous individuals.”
To kindle sparks of patriotism and express their pride in service, Veterans were presented with the American Flag and a special salute from Representative Daniel Rovero and Commander Norman Beaupre, both of the Albert J. Breault VFW Post 1523.
The ceremony included Mistress of Ceremonies and vocalist Linda Colangelo who guided the patriotic ceremony and performed The National Anthem and God Bless the USA, followed by a patriotic sing-a-long. To honor those fallen a touching rendition of Taps was featured by bugler Pam Fillmore.
