Sports medicine is a branch of health care that addresses physical fitness and physiological elements pertaining to sports-related wellness. Specifically, sports medicine deals with the improvement of the body's performance and healthiness, rehabilitation from injury and the prevention of future injury by means of individualized muscle strengthening and conditioning.
Aside from having curative and rehabilitative functions, sports medicine strongly employs preventative education and practices designed to educate and empower the individual with the knowledge of proper form and range of physical aptitude.
Whatever your sport, the staff at Westview can help maintain your passions by building your strength and improving your balance and flexibility while increasing your endurance. Our customized treatment plans begin with a hands-on evaluation of your current state of mobility. This step often includes an assessment of alignment, function, strength, range of motion and flexibility.
Depending on your assessment, your therapist may employ some, or all, of the following approaches: joint and soft tissue mobilization to increase range of motion, therapeutic methods to increase tissue flexibility, decrease pain and swelling and promote healing, and consultation regarding bracing, taping and orthotics.
One of Westview's Outpatient Therapy Gyms
Physical Therapist Assistants, Brad Pike and John Beausoleil, are not only avid golfers, but they are also Titleist Certified Performance Institute Golf Specialists. Their specialized training allows them to deliver customized and strategic approaches to individuals, young and old, who wish to take their golf game to the next level.
Westview's one-on-one golf screening process begins with a head-to-toe analysis of an individual's mobility/flexibility, stability and strength by one of our certified specialists. Utilizing their vast understanding of human anatomy and biomechanics, as well as state-of-the art technologies, they are able to gain deep insights into an individual's deficiencies or compensations that may be limiting their golf game or causing pain and discomfort.
This initial comprehensive screening assessment is the basis for future strength and conditioning, nutrition and exercise regimens. With the results from this assessment, we are able to gain the specific knowledge and insights into a person's potential physical limiting issues in order to provide a series of tailored workouts, nutrition plans and overall guidance with the goal of playing a safer, stronger and pain-free game.
