Cherry blossoms and taste buds were fully awakened at Westview Health Care Center in Dayville, CT on Thursday, May 19, 2016 where employees were treated to their annual "Spring Fling" celebration.
Throughout the early part of the week visitors, patients and employees enjoyed watching an elegant sand sculpture of patriotic expression take form in the front lawn of the facility. Sandtasia, the Rhode Island-based sand sculpting company designed and created this year's installment: a pair of eagles encircling an American flag with the Westview logo prominently displayed at the sculpture's base.
Employees were also treated to a variety of fresh, overstuffed wraps and a delightful pasta salad for a lunch catered by the award-winning restaurant Jessica Tuesday's of Putnam, CT.
The Westview staff eagerly took part in the facility's 4th Annual "Putting Palooza" - a putting challenge on the facility's therapy putting green. Employees were allowed 5 balls and each successful put got their name into a pool for a paid day off. At the end of the day the contest was won by Eric Johnson. Five other employees: Sue Bessette, David Grassini, Lyn Hauser, Liz Ponzi and Sandy Walmsley all won Walmart gift cards.
"Although we officially celebrate employee appreciation week every August," stated David T. Panteleakos, Administrator. "We like to plan activities throughout the entire year to reward and celebrate our most valuable assets- our employees."
Westview Health Care Center is a 103-bed skilled nursing inpatient facility, which includes a distinct and self-contained 28-bed subacute short-term rehabilitation unit and an Outpatient Rehabilitation and Aquatic Center, both dedicated to providing quality health care services.
