Chelsea Lajoie appreciates the help of Westview Sports Medicine in her recovery, and she appreciates the help of local news station WFSB in her search for justice. Lajoie is a Woodstock resident who was recently the victim in a hit-and-run accident. Up to this point little information is known about who struck Chelsea. Our Connecticut CBS television affiliate has amplified her story, with Kevin Hogan reporting about her search for answers. Despite all of the uncertainty with this situation, one thing is clear:Chelsea is determined to overcome the challenges ahead.
Her ordeal began August 9th, 2017. That night Chelsea was struck by an unidentified driver in an unidentified vehicle while walking along Route 6 in Killingly. She spent the next few days in the Intensive Care unit of UMass Worcester and had a subsequent stay at another facility before her discharge home. Chelsea is now several weeks removed from the date of injury and she is working on physical, speech, and occupational therapy as a Westview outpatient.
Chelsea—as well as her family and her therapists—are pleased with the progress she is making. She exhibits perseverance both in her actions and attitude, describing therapy as “Pain…but a good pain. I know what I’m working towards.” According to Chelsea, an important part of her success is the friendly bond she is forming with Westview staff like Occupational Therapist Tanya Clark: “I love working with Tanya, she makes it fun. Westview is ‘the bomb-dot-com’, it’s an awesome place!”
