DAYVILLE- On February 12, 2013, residents and staff of Westview Health Care Center celebrated Mardi Gras in full color and costume. The excitement began with costumes and masks, banners, streamers and Bourbon Street building facades of purple, green and gold that aligned the walls of the French Quarter Café and parade route.
The Westview Recreation Department hosted the fun-filled celebration and followed very popular traditions which included the making of the "King's Cake" which includes baking a plastic baby figurine inside the cake, and the lucky recipient who finds the figurine in their piece of cake shall be crowned the king or queen of the festival and is expected to carry on the carnival festivities by hosting the next King Cake party. This year's recipient of the plastic baby was resident Mrs. Rhea LaChance. Mrs. LaChance was crowned as the Queen of Mardi Gras 2013.
