Jodi Holton has been named employee of the month for August at Westview Health Care Center. She is a second shift Supervisor and has been employed at Westview since May 2005.
As the second shift Nursing supervisor, Jodi is responsible for the monitoring and organizing of the nursing staff and procedures at the facility. Her overall responsibilities include assuring that the facility is adhering to the policies, guidelines and protocols necessary to meet the organization’s standards.
“Jodi has been a long-standing and committed employee of Westview,” stated Director of Nursing Cindy Olsen. “Effective communication skills are some of the most important skills that a person needs in order to succeed in the workplace. Among her many strengths, Jodi possesses communication skills that have contributed to the success of our organization and have brought our residents, patients and family members peace of mind.”
Holton acquired her nursing license in 1968 as a Licensed Practical Nurse and went back to school in 1969 and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1971 from Morrisville State College, formerly the State University of New York at Morrisville. She began her career in emergency and intensive care and then transitioned to long term care in 1972.
Holton recalled that as a child she was inspired to become a nurse by her great grandmother who was a county public health nurse in New Woodstock, New York, traveling in her horse and buggy from home to home administering care to those in need.
“I am honored to have been chosen Employee of the Month among such fine and talented professionals,” remarked Holton. “The journey here at Westview has been wonderful and I am privileged to have collected so many memories along the way. You can teach people how to perform any service but you can’t teach people how to care and my co-workers wear it on their sleeves -there for the taking and nobody does it better.”
Holton, who will retire after her successful career at Westview at the end of August, enjoys photography, gardening, crafts such as knitting and cross stitch, reading the great writings of James Patterson and Nora Roberts, cooking and baking her grandmother’s comfort food recipes, and is in the process of compiling all of the top recipes in a cookbook for her grandchildren.
She is a resident of Danielson and is grateful to share her beautiful life with her sons and daughters-in-law Timothy and Dani, Mathew and Kate, Todd and Maggie, and her seven beautiful grandbabies, Samantha, Alexander, Christopher, Isabella, Dylan, Deirdre and Julia.
