On Thursday, March 26th, 2015, Administrator David T. Panteleakos of Westview Health Care Center, Senator Mae Flexer, and Representatives Daniel Rovero and Christine Rosati honored Mr. Theodore “Ted” Messier Sr. with a signed Citation and Proclamation from the Connecticut General Assembly and Governor in celebration of his 100th birthday for a life well lived.
“It was wonderful to be with Mr. Messier and my legislative colleagues to celebrate his 100th birthday,” stated Senator Mae Flexer. “It’s such a tremendous milestone, and a testament to the high quality of life for Westview residents.”
Mr. Messier was born in Putnam on March 29, 1915 and has remained a life-long resident of Northeastern Connecticut. “Ted,” a devoted husband of 75 years to his lovely wife Lillian, beloved father of three, and an active community member, reflected on his many years of blessings and good health.
“Never take the gifts that you have been blessed with for granted,” said Messier. “Focus on the ‘here and now’ and treat people with respect and kindness because it will come back to you ten-fold. A commitment and positive outlook on everything you experience will make you rich with life’s beautiful offerings and be sure to take each day one day at a time.”
Messier has certainly experienced the full breadth of events that have shaped the world and his life. Woodrow Wilson was President of the United States when he was born. Since that time Messier has lived through the terms of 17 Presidents, the historic Great Depression, World Wars and the first walk on the moon. He has experienced everything from the invention of the jet engine and color television to the internet and the many devices of today’s digital age.
“Mr. Messier is certainly known as a warm, positive and gracious individual who is such a bright beacon of light here at Westview,’ stated Administrator David T. Panteleakos. “He truly is an inspiration to us all.”
