Hi, my name is Linda Felt, I'm an active resident of Northeastern Connecticut.
After recent surgery, I chose to come to Westview for a week of inpatient rehabilitation before going home. I felt that this decision would be the perfect 'transition to home' and it was all that and more.
My condition was excellent immediately after surgery - nonetheless, my range of motion was limited, my strength and stamina were low, and my need for pain medications still evident. The nursing staff at Westview kept me very comfortable and the physical therapy staff got me up and moving right away. They all taught me simple tricks of the trade like how to safely get in and out of bed, chairs, and transition from a walker to a cane, managing stairs, etc., that I did not learn in the hospital.
Once home, I continued to improve at a fast pace and had the skill set to care for myself. I also think that the time at Westview relieved my husband from worry and stress of immediate care-giving after such a serious surgery. I definitely credit Westview with the success of my recovery.
I knew that it was the best decision I could have made.
