Nearly fifty family members and friends gathered in the Formal Dining Room of Westview Health Care Center for an 85th birthday celebration for short-term rehab patient, Barbara Stott on Saturday, June 4, 2016.
Bonnie Deojay, daughter of Mrs. Stott and Westview’s Director of Dietary, and her sister Kathy Majca, organized the event for their mother which included delicious refreshments and personalized entertainment.
As an ardent fan of late president, John F. Kennedy, Mrs. Stott was delighted to have a special rendition of “Happy Birthday” sung to her in the form of a singing telegram delivered by friend and local performer, Donna LaHaie while dressed as Marilyn Monroe.
The afternoon’s events also included a nostalgic version of the popular 1950’s television program, This is Your Life. Fond memories and anecdotes were shared by close friends and family members while they stood behind a paneled wall as Mrs. Stott attempted to guess the identity of the speaker. Paul Sweet, nephew and First Selectman of Plainfield, delivered a heart-rending telling of his gratitude for his beloved aunt and acknowledged numerous examples of her selfless and loving nature.
“We’re delighted to host this wonderful occasion,” remarked David T. Panteleakos, Administrator. “We value these opportunities to learn more about our patients and residents as well as encouraging one of our facility’s most valuable missions: celebrating life.”
Westview Health Care Center is a 103-bed skilled nursing inpatient facility, which includes a distinct and self-contained 28-bed subacute short-term rehabilitation unit and an Outpatient Rehabilitation and Aquatic Center, both dedicated to providing quality health care services.
