Residents and patients of Westview Health Care Center were pleased to welcome the group "Fortezza" back to their facility's formal dining room on June 10 , 2016.
Fortezza, a group of thirteen select 4th grade chorus members from Mary R. Fisher Elementary School in Thompson, Connecticut performed an hour-long set of 19 songs from around the world. The students performed in the native language of each song - a feat that spanned 13 different languages and included instrumentation indigenous to each region. The students utilized numerous percussion instruments including xylophones, glockenspiels, metallophones, a gong, triangle and tambourine.
Carol Rosetti, music educator at Mary R. Fisher Elementary School, directed her talented group of performers with profound efficiency despite the technical variances that each song constituted, all while providing musical accompaniment via piano, guitar or ukulele.
"The level of dedication and professionalism that these students possess is truly inspiring," stated David T. Panteleakos, Administrator. "We commend and thank Mrs. Rosetti and Mary R. Fisher Elementary School for their ability to create and achieve a performance of this caliber. We're honored to have Fortezza share their talents with us today."
