Murcia Earns Employee of the Month

     Dawn Murcia earned the distinction of Westview Health Care Center Employee of the Month as April came to a close.

     As a housekeeper, she is an important member of an important team for the proper functioning of the facility. Dawn has been brightening patient’s rooms and staff member’s moods since her hiring by the Dayville Skilled Nursing facility in February of 2006. She is known to be heard issuing and receiving many pleasant exchanges, hellos, and goodbyes as she walks up and down hallways each day she works.

     Dawn is the proud wife of Louie Murcia and proud mother to her adult son Louie Murcia, Jr., and adult daughters Faith Sweet and Kimberly Murcia. She currently resides in a nearby Dayville home, but originally she grew up in Johnston Rhode Island and graduated from Johnston High School. Dawn worked as a housekeeper at other skilled care facilities in Rhode Island before moving to Connecticut. She began working at Westview just about a year after her relocation, and has been a member of the support services staff at Westview for almost 15 years since then.

     Some of Dawn’s favorite activities include doing yoga and reading books. Some of her favorite books include pulse pounding thriller novels by Steven King. Alternatively, she really appreciates the calmness provided by the practice of yoga and the physical benefits it presents as an exercise. Dawn likes to get back to her Ocean State origins by travelling to Rhode Island beaches in the summer months—particularly Misquamicut State Beach. She looks forward to her next visit with great anticipation.

     This tribute from her fellow colleagues was a touching moment for Dawn, and she values her selection among them, stating: “It’s an honor to be Employee of the Month at Westview. I’ve been working here for 14 years, and I love it here at Westview. I can’t name a better place to work at, or a more wonderful group of staff, residents, and patients. Thank you!”

     Over those 14 years, Jeffrey Pycko, Director of Support Services has noticed Dawn’s devotion to working hard and contributing positivity. “Congratulations to Dawn!” stated Mr. Pycko. “She works hard and is part of an amazing team of dedicated professionals helping to keep our facility spotless and worthy of our five star National rating.”

Westview Health Care Center is a 103-bed inpatient skilled nursing facility, which includes a distinct and self-contained 28-bed sub acute short term rehabilitation unit and outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapies including: Sports Medicine, Adolescent/Pediatric, Adult, and Aquatic Outpatient Centers, all dedicated to providing outstanding quality health care services. The Dayville, Connecticut facility is consistently ranked among the top nursing facilities in the nation, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as well as U.S. News and World Report, for the past 12 consecutive years.
