Laurie Smith was May’s Employee of the Month at Westview Health Care Center, where she fills an essential role as a member of the support services team.
Laurie is a 9 year staff member of Westview, originally hired in 2011. Throughout her years at this Dayville skilled nursing facility, Laurie shares a good working bond with her colleagues. Her mutual respect for Westview and the individuals who make it function comes across in her comments: “I am very surprised and humbled to receive the Employee of the Month award at this time. It is a pleasure to work here at Westview with such amazing people. During this pandemic, I feel that everyone here is Employee of the Month. Thank you so much!”
Laurie lives in Killingly, Connecticut with her children and her 2 granddaughters. She always describes their beauty with a smile on her face. She’s great for bringing smiles to the faces of others as well. She is known around the facility as much for her sense of humor as she is for her work ethic. This is actually her second time earning the Employee of the Month designation, previously selected in September of 2012.
Director of Support Services Jeff Pycko stated, “Laurie is part of an amazing team of dedicated and hard working people who all work together to make Westview shine. She is very deserving of this acknowledgment by her co-workers and the residents. Congratulations Laurie!”
Westview Health Care Center is a 103-bed inpatient skilled nursing facility, which includes a distinct and self-contained 28-bed sub acute short term rehabilitation unit and outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapies including: Sports Medicine, Adolescent/Pediatric, Adult, and Aquatic Outpatient Centers, all dedicated to providing outstanding quality health care services. The Dayville, Connecticut facility is consistently ranked among the top nursing facilities in the nation, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as well as U.S. News and World Report, for the past 12 consecutive years.
