Moller Earns Employee of the Month

Date
AUGUST 31, 2021

Nicole Moller, LPN, earns the designation of Westview Health Care Center Employee of the Month for August 2021. Currently, Nicole holds a position as a Resident Services Assistant—a role she has performed since May 2016. Prior to this present responsibility advocating for the best patient outcomes, Nicole worked for 5 years in Westview’s skilled care setting as a Licensed Practical Nurse. During that time as an LPN at Westview, she balanced her time between providing individual patient treatments and serving whole units as a Charge Nurse. This is her second time earning Westview’s Employee of the Month distinction after first receiving it in October 2013; multiplying the gratitude that Nicole feels by earning it again. Upon learning about her August 2021 selection, she graciously exclaimed: “I am shocked and honored to receive this award from my peers twice!”

Nicole graduated from Enrico Fermi High School while growing up in Enfield, CT. In the early years of her adult life she cultivated the growth of her own family with her husband, Andrew, and their children Andrew, Jr., Steven, and Kirsten. At the same time, she also promoted the growth of her family’s business in real estate title abstraction. Once her children were old enough to attend school, Nicole went back into the classroom herself. She enrolled at Lincoln Technical Institute in New Britain, CT; earning her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Nicole promptly put this education to professional use and started her nursing career by joining Westview’s team of caretakers in May 2011. The considerations of senior care continue to evolve, and according to Westview’s Resident Services Director, Lynn Kennedy, “Nicole is an exemplary medical professional who understands the importance of looking at the total picture of patients’ cases.”

Beginning her tenure at Westview as a Charge Nurse provided Nicole with significant experience that she draws upon daily in her current role as a Resident Services Assistant. While she confirms the irreplaceable importance of nursing knowledge learned in classroom and clinical settings, she also acknowledges that the insights gained from working in Resident Services provide her with a whole new approach to rehabilitative medicine. In addition to considering patient care plans based on elements like medical histories, the best treatment delivery procedures, and the possible benefits or drawbacks of certain medications, Nicole knows to look further into the factors impacting individual cases. Through her experience in Resident Services she is also mindful to consider insurance authorizations, family communications, and patients’ personal choices. She not only knows how to consider these elements with patients, but also how to help them in forming decisions and acting upon them. Whether in her previous role within the skilled care setting or in her current role in the Resident Services office, Nicole maintains that her efforts are driven by a desire to be the strongest patient advocate possible.

Nicole and her husband proudly witness their sons and daughter as they experience life and become young adults. Watching her children perform at athletic competitions and other events remains one of Nicole’s most treasured activities. Presently, Nicole and her family (including beloved dog, Cooper) reside in Ellington, CT. Nicole’s current location is not too far from where she grew up in Enfield and she maintains close contact with family and friends throughout the region. As a native New Englander, Nicole enjoys extra-long strolls collecting sea shells and sea glass along the shorelines stretching from Connecticut to Rhode Island. The Ocean State is home to some of her favorite destinations, with Narragansett beach designated as one of her preferred sandy spots and Block Island identified as her ‘little escape.’ Reading is one of Nicole’s more relaxed interests; citing the works of Jodi Picoult and Elin Hildebrand as some of her favorite fictional content to consume.

Having worked at Westview for many years, alongside many colleagues and across many departments, Nicole fully understands the significance of the Employee of the Month award within the Westview community. Regarding the prestige of this selection, she remarked: “I am proud to say that I work at one of the best health care facilities in our nation. I am especially grateful to be surrounded by coworkers at Westview who share my passion in caring and protecting our elderly population. Earning recognition among this great group shows how well we work together, and that all of the hard work matters to each of us and to each of our patients. We are all Westview Warriors!”

The Administrator of Westview Health Care Center, David T. Panteleakos, notes that Nicole’s dedication to compassionate care has been a part of her work ethic since she started at the facility. “Nicole’s ambition is well documented here at Westview. Her dedication was first displayed in the long hours she served as a Charge Nurse in our skilled nursing setting, and it is further confirmed through her passion for strengthening her patient advocacy skills as a Resident Services Assistant. Nicole’s actions are laudable and her excitement to learn is contagious. She is a great example of how to succeed in the vertically integrated health care system that we have created here at Westview.”
