Cheryl Lemieux is Westview Health Care Center’s Employee of the Month for June 2021. She has remained an important member of the important Dietary Services at the Dayville skilled nursing facility since her first day in July 1996. Next month marks Cheryl’s 25th year with Westview, and she reflects fondly on many, many memories over the years. Whether it is serving residents the hearty meals in the winter months, or the brighter fare offered in the warmer months, Cheryl loves being a part of the production in the Dietary Services Department.
At times Cheryl can be tidying up the dishes from meals enjoyed; at other times she may be setting up the trays for individual patients prior to being served. This requires precision in preparation as some of the dietary needs can be very particular for patients and residents at Westview. She is sure to build each tray she touches with care. As Cheryl herself mentions, Westview’s kitchen offers quite a range of options and she is committed to her role on the team to make sure that the quality is consistent throughout. “I love all my coworkers and I know we make a great team,” Cheryl states. She is especially proud of this group when there are days of extra duty such as the occasions where Westview feeds their staff as well as the residents; offering an additional several hundred plates of beef Bolognese or lobster rolls to her colleagues. Especially in light of this award, she appreciates her Westview teammates in many ways, remarking: “I am honored to be chosen as Employee of the Month. Thank you to everyone who nominated me!
Living in nearby Brooklyn, Connecticut with her husband Joe, family is very important to Cheryl. She maintains close bonds with her daughter Christine, her son Joey, her daughter-in-law Jody, and her two grandsons Luc and Mason. Cheryl is her family’s chef du cuisine every Sunday night; cooking family meals to bring everyone together. Cheryl’s shepherd’s pie, beef stew, and meatloaf are especially high-ranking favorites for her grandson Luc. As the height of summer approaches she is looking forward to a good amount of gardening and spending time in her pool with family.
Respect and admiration for the leadership at Westview is another element of Cheryl’s happiness at the facility for two-and-a-half decades. The feeling is mutual, with Westview Dietary Services Director Nathan Mitchell declaring: “Cheryl is someone I really enjoy working with. She has been a part of this team for an impressive amount of time, and no matter what I need to ask her she says yes and takes action right away. Her affirmative attitude is a valuable asset to our culinary operations.”
“Cheryl is so deserving of this acknowledgment and praise,” stated David T. Panteleakos, Administrator. “Her long term dedication to the facility, the residents, and her co-workers is remarkable and her kindness to others is to be commended.”
