The original Honky Tonk Piano Man, Gary Landgren, returned to Westview Health Care Center on Wednesday, August 2, 2016 for an hour’s worth of hand-clapping, toe-tapping entertainment for residents and patients in the facility’s formal dining room.
Worcester, Massachusetts resident, Gary Landgren, a primarily self-taught pianist, has been playing his brand of honky tonk piano since he was 15 years old. Heavily inspired by the musical stylings of the late Lawrence Welk, Landgren is a well-rounded performer who adds anecdotal storytelling, jokes and crowd pleasing interactions between his high-spirited and masterful piano playing.
“He’s a crowd favorite,” stated David T. Panteleakos, Administrator. “Our residents are always delighted when Mr. Landgren visits. He is an extremely talented artist whose dexterous abilities and musical styling truly resonates with the folks here.”
Landgren performed numerous songs including: “Heart of My Heart”, “12th Street Rag” and “When You’re Smiling the Whole World Smiles With You.”
