Racine Earns Employee of the Month

     Alisa Racine is announced as Westview Health Care Center’s January 2022 Employee of the Month. Alisa began working at Westview in June 2021, but she first entered the health care field as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2006. A few years prior to this, her education centered around becoming an educator herself as she studied to become a teacher through Quinebaug Valley Community College. She maintained an interest in medicine throughout this time—and initially started her health care career in assisted living locations, gaining a great deal of experience in patient care in the process. Equipped with this working knowledge and a strong desire to do more, Alisa decided to pursue an even bigger role in nursing; gaining her certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2017 from Quinsigamond Community College. Still possessing an even greater desire to touch more lives in the nursing field, Alisa has already completed many prerequisite courses towards a degree as a Registered Nurse and is slated to attend nursing school in 2023.

     Alisa values all of the education and skills she gained in academic settings, but she also makes it clear that the clinical education she has received while actively working at Westview adds a massive amount of experience to her repertoire. By her account, she loves helping today’s CNAs on the Westview’s skilled nursing floor as much as she loves the high-level communications and considerations she needs to make as a leading LPN. “I am honored and humbled by this recognition—it definitely caught me by surprise!” Alisa elaborated further: “I come to Westview with the same common goal as my coworkers; giving our absolute best care to the patients and residents. I love what I do because it’s close to my heart. I’ve always been a ‘helper.’ With that said, I can’t do all that I do at Westview without the daily support I receive from CNAs, fellow nurses, and the mentors I look up to among our staff.”

     Originally hailing from Western New York—specifically, Binghamton—Alisa now resides in Putnam, CT with her husband David, son Jonathan, and daughter Caitlin. Alisa enjoys time outdoors in the warmer months, hiking, gardening, and landscaping as much as possible. The Racine family loves to spend time together, whether on a beach trip or amidst family game night. “Pictionary” and “Dr. Dreadful” are some of their favorite games; proving that intellect and wellness are passions of Alisa’s even in her recreational pursuits.

     David T. Panteleakos, Westview Administrator, finds encouragement in Alisa’s motivated approach to her career development and care delivery at Westview. “Alisa conveys a constantly driven approach to her own education and nursing methods that exemplifies our definition of quality care at Westview Health Care Center.” Mr. Panteleakos continued to say: “In her short tenure at Westview, Alisa has garnered the favorable attention of patients, their family members, and her colleagues; resulting in this Employee of the Month acknowledgement. Congratulations to Alisa!”

Westview Health Care Center is a 103-bed inpatient skilled nursing facility, which includes a distinct and self-contained 28-bed sub-acute short-term rehabilitation unit and outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapies including: Sports Medicine, Adolescent/Pediatric, Adult and Aquatic Outpatient Centers, all dedicated to providing outstanding quality health care services. The facility is located in Dayville, Connecticut and is ranked among the top nursing facilities in the nation according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service; and U.S. News and World Report for the past 13 years.
