Couture Earns Employee of the Month

     This August, Patricia Couture was selected as Westview Health Care Center’s Employee of the Month. Patricia plays an important role at the Dayville skilled nursing facility as a Charge Nurse as well as a treatment Nurse for the purposes of Infection Prevention and Disease Control. As can be seen all across our nation and across the world, there is a significant need to maintain strong awareness of the human battle against viruses and bacteria. Patricia’s efforts on this front line are greatly appreciated at Westview.

     Currently living in Sterling, Patricia grew up in Lebanon, CT. She earned her status as a Certified Nursing Assistant from Three Rivers Community College. After a few years in the field of senior care she returned to the classroom to pursue further education and earned a degree as a Registered Nurse; returning to the nursing education program at Three Rivers College. Equipped with a new RN degree and a devoted passion for senior care, Patricia joined the Westview team at the beginning of 2019.

     Family life is highly valued to Patricia, and she enjoys spending as much time with her husband Thomas and their daughter Hazel as possible. Patricia refers to her 2-year-old daughter as her “free spirit” as the two of them frequently frolic about the yard; often playing in the dirt.

     Patricia acknowledges the many ways her role (and the roles of others) has evolved amidst our current situation. She commented: “With fewer relatives and other visitors able to enter nursing homes, we take pride in serving our patients and residents in roles as caregivers as well as their second family.” Furthermore, she elaborated how proud she feels to earn this award during such a time, saying “It’s an honor and surprise to be Employee of the Month at Westview. During this time, I feel that all of our employees deserve this title considering how much our roles in skilled care have significantly changed.”

     “Patricia is such an outstanding choice for the employee of the month award,” stated David T. Panteleakos, Administrator. “Her strong work ethic, amazing compassion towards her residents and enthusiasm for her profession is quite impressive. Patricia is certainly a health care professional for others to emulate.”

Westview Health Care Center is a 103-bed inpatient skilled nursing facility, which includes a distinct and self-contained 28-bed sub acute short term rehabilitation unit and outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapies including: Sports Medicine, Adolescent/Pediatric, Adult, and Aquatic Outpatient Centers, all dedicated to providing outstanding quality health care services. The Dayville, Connecticut facility is consistently ranked among the top nursing facilities in the nation, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as well as U.S. News and World Report, for the past 12 consecutive years.
