Mayo Earns Employee of the Month

     Chelsea Mayo earns the distinction of October Employee of the Month at Westview Health Care Center. She is part of Westview’s highly-dedicated nursing team, working as a second-shift Certified Nursing Assistant. She signs the bottom of the information sheet that goes to the awarded individuals with a small star at the end of her name—a humble expression for one of the bright lights inside of Westview’s skilled care facility. At a time when everyone’s efforts, adaptability, and kindnesses matter most, Chelsea is well qualified.

     Hailing from Killingly, CT in her early years, she went on to graduate from Killingly High School; then continuing her education at Quinebaug Valley Community Colleges to earn her CNA certification. Westview welcomed her into their nursing department in 2012 and she has become a strong, consistent member of the team. Chelsea wishes to do even more with her career in the medical arts and currently pursues a degree as a Respiratory Therapist from Manchester Community College.

     In the occurrence of a free moment, Chelsea can be found fishing, reading, or spending time with family including her mother Kelly, her brother Jacob, her boyfriend Joe, and the much-adored dog members of her family: Taz, Vader, and Penelope.

     An ever-increasing desire to help others appears frequently from Chelsea. Even on one of her off-days (specifically: the day she scheduled to have her portrait taken for this award) she received a phone call to see if she could bolster the staffing at Westview and come in to work. She agreed, and almost apologized for needing to reschedule the photograph seen here. The photographer assured her that it was an honor to work around her schedule because that’s what she’s willing to do for any of her colleagues.

Westview Health Care Center is a 103-bed inpatient skilled nursing facility, which includes a distinct and self-contained 28-bed sub acute short term rehabilitation unit and outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapies including: Sports Medicine, Adolescent/Pediatric, Adult, and Aquatic Outpatient Centers, all dedicated to providing outstanding quality health care services. The Dayville, Connecticut facility is consistently ranked among the top nursing facilities in the nation, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as well as U.S. News and World Report, for the past 12 consecutive years.
